Dear friends, dear musicians, professional and amateur! Today, October 1, the World celebrates International Music Day!
In our age of total commercialization we are grateful to those who is now with us printing, playing, recording and just listening to the MUSIC.
The holiday is held by U.N./UNESCO proclamation. This day the International Music Council (IMC) and other world music organizations dedicate 24 hours to the promotion of music.
The idea belonged to the Lord Yehudi Menuhin and the procedure was initiated with his and Boris Jaroustovsky letter to IMC back in 1975. The goals of this event are to encourage:
• the promotion of our musical art among all sections of society
• the application of the UNESCO ideals of peace and friendship between peoples, of the evolution of their cultures, of the exchange of experience and of the mutual appreciation of their aesthetic values
• the promotion of the activities of IMC, its international member organizations and national committees, as well as its program policy in general.
The life without music is impossible to conceive, we listen to all kinds of music virtually everywhere: at home, in transport, at work; we hear it from some famous concert hall as well as from the elevator in the hotel. We are enveloped in the music field like the whole Earth is enveloped in the electromagnetic one.
Let us wish all the best to the people whose daily work enables this everyday miracle — to MUSICIANS. One can not have a job as a musician; this life-consuming occupation owns the whole person. Music teaching is the noblest task aimed not only to bringing up some other musician but to developing the human personality in its full bloom, which is more than needed now.
The music is impossible without many things - printed music is probably the first of them.
