Dear Friends!

Almost without regret we part with the year 2012. It was a leap year, the year of Black Dragon. It was noted that leap years are usually tumultuous; they are filled with natural calamities, wars and other unpleasant things. In that year 2012 we just about enjoyed yet another Doomsday.  
Still we are alive and well... 
Let us recall however some cultural milestones of the going year. 
St Petersburg Conservatory celebrated its 150 year anniversary. This legendary institution was founded in 1862 and from the very beginning it had been at the cradle of Russian musical culture.  Works by its graduates always had been at the core of our production catalogue. 

One of its famous graduates, Sergey Slonimsky also celebrated a jubilee, he reached 80 this year. Works by this genius of the contemporary music enjoy worldwide recognition and our publishing house is happy to provide a variety of scores written by this maitre of music creation, in total a little short of 100 works…  
Dear  Sergey Mikhailovich,  we are proud to be your publisher!  Many happy returns of this day to you!   
 Another cultural event is granting to the maestro Valery Gergiev a title of Honored Professor of SPb Conservatoire.  
For the 7th time already the annual charity project Musical Offering takes place under your patronage. During these 7 years 187 libraries in 33 Russian cities received gratis more than 50 000 scores and books about music. Only this year music schools of SPb region received about 20 000 scores and books in the frames of this program. 

Krymsk tragedy on July6-7 affected not only lives and homes of people; it destroyed the Children School of Art with its library.  
Responding to the request of the school administration, our Publishing house sent more than 5000 books and music scores to Krymsk and we were among the first to react… 
Many words of gratitude for your attention and support, dear Maestro! 
It is impossible to elaborate on all editions that came out of print in our Publishing house this year because their number exceeded 500.

The influence of music to children education and upbringing was never underestimated but now it was decided to bring music education to public schools. 
In relation to this I would like to recall an episode from my own childhood. 
The Autumn of 1944, the War is still going on. We were 5 in total, 1st  year pupils of the Special Music school by Leningrad Conservatoire. Together with our first teacher the Director came into our classroom where empty wooden boxes served both as chairs and tables.  ‘I do not promise you. — said he, — that everyone of you will become a musician, but I do promise that all of you will be able to succeed in almost anything, for your will learn here how to toil your way through life’ Friedrich Nietzsche said once that the life without music would be a mistake. 
I would like to thank everyone whose life is dedicated to the correction of this ‘mistake’:
