Three volumes united under the name 'Schostakovich in Leningrad Conservatory 1919-1930' acclaimed as a ‘Book of the year 2013’ contain the most valuable collection of documents, related to the said period in great composer’s life. 

The author and supervisor of the project, Liudmila Kovnatzkaya, processed astounding amount of letters, reminescenses of composer’s contemporaries, official archive documents, etc. Addresses of the family, names of fellow students, exam results, even routes of public transportation that Schostakovich used, his work as a pianist in the cinema (which influenced considerably his compositions), the first performances and public reaction – literally everything of a value, albeit a minute one, to produce the portrait of the composer in his young strive imprinted on the background of fiery years he lived through.
